Advancing Our People & Communities
We employ over 14,000 people across ASEAN and South Asia, each of whom play a critical role in delivering exceptional digital experiences to our customers and stakeholders.
To reach our goals and drive shared value, our foremost priority is to foster a culture of excellence where surpassing expectations becomes a norm and not the exception. As such, we recognise the importance of maintaining fair and impartial practices when hiring, retaining and rewarding our employees, as our standards in these areas affect our ability to attract and retain talent as well as our reputation as an organisation.
We follow a set of established principles – detailed in our Employee Code of Conduct and workplace policies – that govern our interactions with our employees. While each of our OpCos has its own set of policies, we set the tone from the top by mandating fair employment practices and enshrining the importance of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). Our way of working is aligned with and guided by the Winning Culture, underpinned by our core values of Uncompromising Integrity and Exceptional Performance (UI.EP), the Axiata Way and Modern, Agile and Digital (M.A.D) ways of working.
The Axiata 5.0 Vision is centered on our commitment to prioritising our people and strengthening our operational excellence and service delivery by implementing fair employment practices and work processes. We aim to achieve this by fostering closer and more effective collaboration across our teams to create an inclusive and respectful environment where everyone is valued.
In our pursuit of becoming The Next Generation Digital Champion, we are guided by our Organisation 5.0 – People Strategy: The Winning Culture which sets out five strategic priorities to sustain an inclusive and winning culture.

Our People Strategic Priorities
Our core values – Uncompromising Integrity and Exceptional Performance (UI.EP) – are the foundation of our culture. These values are embedded in everything we do, inculcating the importance of honesty, fairness and accountability at all levels. They align our employees behind the imperative of always doing the right thing and fulfilling the promises we make to our stakeholders.
The Axiata Code of Conduct governs how we interact with colleagues and stakeholders across our value chain. Through the code, we commit to upholding universal human rights, in line with the International Labour Organization (ILO) Core Labour Standards.

We believe that a diverse workforce, free of discrimination by age, gender, capability, nationality and culture, enables us to attract a better calibre of talent and bring the best out of our teams.
Putting our beliefs into action, we have established a comprehensive DEI Framework that identifies four pillars of action, with our capabilities as an organisation forming a crucial factor that supports each pillar. Implementation across the pillars is supported by a Culture, Engagement and DEI Circle comprising representatives from our OpCos.

One of our key DEI targets is to achieve 30% women representation in Axiata Group Berhad’s Senior Management by 2025, against which we sit at 27% as of 31 December 2022.
During the past year, we involved ourselves in a range of DEI-related initiatives. Key highlights include:
Increased diversity in hiring approvals by looking beyond the usual telco talent profile
Implemented young talent recruitment and internship programmes
Recognised female employees for their success in career, personal and family life though the Wanita Tangguh award
Adopted the United Nations Women Empowerment Principles (UN WEP) Charter
Ultimately, our initiatives contribute to our corporate vision, purpose and values, delivering on our responsibilities as a regional telecommunications and digital leader.
