Advancing Our People & Communities
The expectations of employees have evolved tremendously in recent years, with employers expected to go beyond mere protection and actively promote holistic physical, mental and social wellbeing. This movement has become even more pronounced since the pandemic and the resulting rise of flexible and hybrid work arrangements.
In response to this trend, we have initiated a range of programmes aimed at enhancing work-life integration, physical and mental wellbeing, and safety. At the same time, we strive to remain compliant to all relevant local laws and regulations on health and safety, with our approach in this area governed by our Group-wide Safety Policy. The policy forms the basis for our OpCos to develop their own policies and management systems to safeguard their employees within the specific context and challenges of their operations.
Going forward, we will continue to focus on improving employee health, safety and wellbeing, providing care to our people while managing and monitoring our health and safety indicators to ensure that appropriate action is taken to address pressing needs.
By implementing Environmental, Safety and Health (ESH) systems and monitoring processes within our operations, we aim to embed employee safety as a natural consideration in everything we do. In addition, we provide our employees with regular training programmes to update them on the latest regulations and practices across key safety-related topics.
Employees who work high-risk jobs – such as those that require working at height or on-site, as well as emergency response roles – are required to attend refresher courses, where they are availed of purpose-specific knowledge and practices to maximise their safety. Meanwhile, site supervisors are required to complete Competency Programme sessions to ensure they comply with changing safety standards and regulations.
Beyond the crucial need to protect our employees’ safety, our OpCos also invest in initiatives that promote their mental health and wellness, with this need especially pronounced given the stresses of the pandemic.
